American Hanoverian Inspection
On July 26, the North Atlantic Hanoverian Breeders Club held an American Hanoverian Society Inspection at the Brookside Equestrian Center in North Smithfield, Rhode Island. The judging team consisted of George Walker of South Carolina and Fritz Floto of Canada as judges and Hugh Bellis-Jones of Kentucky as the recording secretary. The mare performance test was facilitated by Gerd Zuther of Massachusetts.
There were two mares presented for the mare performance test, one thoroughbred mare for inspection, four Hanoverian mares for inspection, and 16 foals for presentation and branding. Two yearlings were also brought in for branding.
The Hanoverian Mare Inspection Champion was Arebela RGS (Acord II - Watina/Wendelin I) bred by Erwin Zimmermann and owned by Dr Terry Schrubb and Family with a score of 7.55. The Non-Hanoverian Mare Inspection Champion was the Thoroughbred mare Quick Ridge xx (Manastash Ridge xx – Tooquicktobegood xx/To the Quick xx) bred by Joe B. Hall and owned by Rachel Ehrlich with a score of 7.25. This score placed Quick Ridge into the Pre-Stud book. The Mare Performance Test Champion was also Arebela RGS with a score of 8.33. Her scores make her an Elite Mare Candidate.
The foal presentation was a treat for all the spectators with many sires represented: Scimitar, Wolkentanz, Contendro, Samarant, Welcome S, Werbellin (4), Don Frederico, Winterprinz, De Laurentis, Donatelli, Bretone (2), and Fred Astaire. With so many wonderful foals, the judges’ job was not an easy one. On this day, the top colt of the inspection was Cartier (Contendro – SPS Eclaire/Escudo) bred and owned by Beth Dzaugis. The top filly of the inspection was Sophia LH (Scimitar – Ava Gabour/Arrian) bred and owned by Heather Quinn.
